What happens if the judge offers a mistrial but the defendant declines?
Q. Like, i have a friend who has been on trial for days, and today they said that it was over, but at the end the judge offered a mistrial but he declined, and so becuase he didn't take the offer the trial continues tommarow. What will happen, and why are they going to court again tomarrow? Please, i am really confused and worried, i need some asnwers. Thanks

A. The judge offered a mistrial because there was something that happened that could influence the jury that may have violated or compromised the defendant's rights. Since he declined the mistrial, he must believe that there is a chance he will be acquitted in this trial. In other words, the trial will go on and if he is found guilty, he will be guilty without a chance to argue for a mistrial.
