A. Why would the American Red Cross have anything to do with the UK or England? The International Red Cross has branches across the world. The American Red Cross is just one of these based in the USA. The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement started in 1863, inspired by a Swiss businessman, Henry Dunant. He proposed the creation of national relief societies, made up of volunteers, trained in peacetime to provide neutral and impartial help to relieve suffering in times of war. In response to these ideas a committee, which later became the International Committee of the Red Cross, was established in Geneva. The founding charter of the Red Cross was drawn up in 1863. Is American Red Cross the same Red Cross who had the responsibility to inspect all the Nazi camps during WW2?
Q. Is American Red Cross the same Red Cross who had the responsibility to inspect all the Nazi camps during WW2 including Auschwitz? And during The Great Holocaust Trial of Zundel in Toronto, is it the same Red Cross that had an official total body count of 350 thousands for all the Nazi Camps? Either the Holocaust is a Myth or the Red Cross helped the Nazi in their extermination plot.

A. You do realize the full extent of the Holocaust was not known until the Allies had fully invaded Europe? You are attacking the wrong source, the ICRC is the one faulted for this "theory", not the American Red Cross. Please read. However, I await with baited breathe your explanation on how you expected the ICRC to physically stop the executions by the hands of a superpower waging one hell of a World War? And no, the holocaust was not a myth. Only fools with two brain cells will fall for the misconception that millions of people disappeared at will and millions more from multiple continents and countries all corroborated one story just to trick "you" 70 years later.

American Heart Association and American Red Cross in regards to CPR?
Q. Have First Aid and CPR training from the Red Cross. Never knew that AHA had training as well. There is one down the road, and will have to renew my CPR for the year soon. Was thinking of taking the class. Is there a difference between the courses? Is one more widely accepted than the other? Thanks for the feedback.

A. They are teaching the same courses. If you can always take a class online to save the time and money from having to seek out a Red Cross or AHA class. There are several good online courses. I used National CPR Certification. It seems rather straight forward. Just make sure you use a Nationally recognized class.

i read somewhere you only have to be 12 to volunteer at american red cross, is that true?
Q. can a 12 year old get paid to work /volunteer at tha red cross?
Asked by a - Sat Jul 12 00:45:39 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. I don't know if you can get paid but you can volunteer. Youth Volunteers/Programs: Students are encouraged to volunteer answering phones, doing office work, help with mailings, preparing materials for classes and computer data entry. Friendly Visitor Program: Volunteers provide the gift of companionship to homebound senior citizens. These are typical local Red Cross volunteer opportunities. Not every Red Cross local unit will offer all of these opportunities. Go to the link below and fill out the form to get started. Good luck.

"I may not be a human, but I am a man." ~~ And I Need You To Give Blood~~ "Your wish, my command." ~~Please Give Blood.~~ "I cannot be without you, but I will not destroy your soul." ~~ please give now ~~ "Well, I m nearly a hundred and ten. Vegans/Vegetarians: Do any of you donate blood to the American Red Cross?
Q. I do, as often as I can. I ask because I just donated a couple of days ago, and the woman said "You have rich blood" looking at it after I finished. I asked what she meant by that, and she said I have a lot of red blood cells because my blood is very dark, "almost black" she said! Just wondering if many other vegan/vegetarians donate blood. I always feel fine after donating, too. They always test your blood's iron level first, so don't worry if you'd like to try it. Any responses are greatly appreciated.

A. I used to be a very regular blood donor, but I've missed out in the last several years for various reasons. Every time a blood drive comes up at work it's something (I missed the last few because you have to not have been tattooed in the last 12 months.) I've never had a problem with the iron thing; they've always approved me to donate.

CPR and First Aid clases at the American Red Cross?
Q. So how does the whole CPR and First Aid classes at the American Red Cross thing work? Like what kinds of things do they teach you? And what does First Aid and CPR certification allow you to do that people without certification cannot?

A. I applaud your interest in First Aid and CPR. As a paramedic, I have seen first-hand what a difference the general public can make in the survivability of my patients if care is rendered prior to my arrival. There are two generally accepted organizations that offer CPR/First Aid classes: The Red Cross and the American Heart Association. Either organization will teach you important skills that could someday make a huge difference in someone's life. If you are looking at pursuing a higher level of medical training, I would recommend an American Heart Association course, as they are more often accepted as the standard for healthcare professionals. Keep in mind that becoming certified in CPR doesn't really "allow" you to do anything… [cont.]

Is the American Red Cross a federally run organization?
Q. This is what I know... The Red cross is... Congressionally Chartered Board is appointed by the president but in actual is it a "Federally managed agency?"
Asked by slickny8111 - Mon Jul 14 22:46:56 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. No...it is not Federally managed. I had worked with Red Cross for over 19 years. I have also been a manager and Coordinator on the National level. There is a governing board which is comprised of Volunteers, not paid professionals. There are operations out of DC which work in conjuction with FEMA and other Federal Municipalities, but to recieve federal aid a person must first seek out Red Cross as a case file, then proceed to FEMA so that services are not duplicated. It is a complicated process. Red Cross does its fair share of screw ups...but it isn't associated to the government.
